LinkedIn "your account is restricted" is not handled well

Wed, 23 Apr 2008 17:08:32 PDT
Lets be honest, LinkedIn is not the pissing contest that MySpace or even Facebook is. LinkedIn is about professional networking over social networking. I really like LinkedIn. I recently wrote a letter to customer service, and since I spent such a lot of time writing it, I figured I should post it here. You can read it in its entirety after the break. Hi, "The action is not allowed because your account is restricted. Please contact Customer Service at customer_service@linkedin.com." This is

Clarification: NASA MMO Looking for Licensing Model

Wed, 23 Apr 2008 08:20:05 PDT
Earlier this week, the blogosphere, including, yes, Virtual Worlds News, picked up on NASA's new RFP for an educational virtual world. The highlight of the story is that NASA "intended that this request will result in the establishment of a non-reimbursable Space Act Agreement (defined as one with no exchange of funds)." In other words, NASA wanted an MMO for free or for possible "brand placement, limited exclusivity and other opportunities." Turns out we were off the mark. Robert Rice, author

A news junkie’s dream …. or nightmare

Wed, 16 Apr 2008 10:46:47 PDT
I am a news junkie and admittedly if I had cable plus the extra TV I would probably have either CNN or CBC Newsworld on the whole time I’m in my room I jokingly call my office. So when I saw Brian Solis’ post about local broadcast news going social I was at first rather skeptical of the the idea; after all everything these days is having the social sticker slapped on its ass like it is going to be the road to instant riches or something. But when I clicked on the LiveNewsComeras.com link (go

Ha Noi - World cheer bards birthday

Viet Nam News, Vietnam

Ha Noi, world cheer bards birthday

(22-04-2008)

Bloody good show: A scene from the play Macbeth by artists from the Youth Theatre. VNS File Photo

HA NOI Ha Nois Youth Theatre will join in a worldwide celebration tomorrow of William Shakespeares 444th birthday with a performance of an abridged version of the Bards famous Scottish play, Macbeth.

The international event, entitled Shakespeare 24, is an extraordinary worldwide day of performance organised by the Shakespeare School Festival in London.

The festival is a unique arts education initiative which enables young people to perform abridged productions of Shakespeares most famous plays in their local professional theatres.

Kicking off in New Zealand and ending 24 hours later in Hawaii, 65 youth theatres and school groups from 35 countries will stage abridged plays at 7pm in their respective time zones on Wednesday, April 23, Shakespeares birthday.

From Mexico to Malawi, Russia to Rio, the cultural baton will be passed around the world in a day.

In England, the city of Liverpool, 2008s "Capital of Culture," is a Shakespear 24 event partner and will broadcast highlights of the performances.

Receiving the invitation from the organising board last year, Ha Nois Youth Theatre artists have a rare opportunity to revive a classic play.

Macbeth, written by Shakespeare in 1606-07, is a story of murderous ambition set in 11th century Scotland.

The Youth Theatre production tomorrow is based on the production staged by veteran director Le Hung in 2002 and given 68 performanes, including at festivals in Beijing and Shanghai in 2003 and 2005, said the theatres deputy director, Truong Nhuan.

The production was enthusiastically received in China, Nhuan said, especially due to the Asian theatrical motifs used in the scene depicting the death of Macbeths wife.

"The play is very Vietnamese in character because director Le Hung used dances from Vietnamese tuong (classical opera)," Nhuan said.

In the plays title role, actor Anh Tu said, "Im very enthusiastic to play Macbeth as I have played in many other classic plays from around the world and Viet Nam. I am very proud to play this role and I try to express the character of Macbeth, who is very talented but overly ambitious. I like the cause and effect of the play." VNS
